I hope over time to continue this series looking at the relationship between the UK and Sierra Leone - going right up to the present day. At a first glance, it appears that so many cycles are repeating themselves over long periods. For instance, how different really is the current relationship to the colonial relationship of the 19th and 20th centuries? Do we just have new words to describe the same old things?
